Kate is a 2021 American thriller directed by Cedric Nicholas Trowan and written by Amir Alim. The leading roles are played by Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Miko Martino, Woody Harrelson, Tadanobu Asano, Michelle Hoysman, Miafi and John Conimura. The film tells the story of Kate (Winstead), a man who is accused by his mentor and manager (Harrelson) of murdering a high-ranking yakuza leader. On Kitz’s last mission, he finds that he has been poisoned and has only 24 hours to survive, so he uses his last hours to get revenge and find out who instigated him.
The film received mixed reviews from critics, who praised Winsteads’ performance but described the film as “disappointing.” Released on September 10, 2021 by Netflix.
Kate is a young man and a skilled sniper who destroys the targets chosen by his credible trainer and healer Warik. Waric was orphaned as a child, raised as a grandfather, trained extensively in weapons and warfare, and eventually transferred to his team of network specialists.
At the beginning of the film, Kate is in Osaka to kill a powerful Yakuza Syndicate officer, but Kate refuses to take pictures because she is unexpectedly accompanied by a child. He finally achieves the goal with the insistence of Forex. While Kate’s mission is successful, this violation of her personal law not to kill in front of children causes emotional turmoil. He tells Warik that he is going to do his last job and then retire so he can start a new life.
For the final mission, Kate meets a charismatic stranger, Stephen, in her hotel bar. The couple share a bottle of wine and have sex in their room. Later, when preparing his nest for the sniper, he exhibits spells of dizziness that cause him to miss the shooting. Kate finds out Stephen poisoned her and wakes up in the hospital after her car accident to discover she has acute polonium-204 radiation poisoning and has only survived 24 hours. He steals injectable steroids and weapons and seeks revenge on the person who poisoned him.
Chasing Stephen and his girlfriend, Kate learns they were forcibly armed to be poisoned by Sato, a yakuza member of Kijima’s criminal family. Kate finds Sato in a fancy restaurant and kills him along with dozens of yakuza gunmen. Desperate to find out the isolated and sheltered president of Kijima who he believes was behind the poisoning, he kidnaps Kijima’s nephew Annie. Kate finds out that Annie is a girl who saw her father die while on a mission in Osaka. Although Kate initially only wants to use Annie as bait to kill Kijima, Ranji decides to become a bodyguard when she realizes that Anis ‘family is planning to kill her in a domestic power struggle led by Kijimas’ corrupt adviser. Kate discovers further clues about Osaka’s mission and realizes that his trust in Warik may have been wrong after tracking down Kijima. When Kijima realizes that Kate is going to die, he gives her a small army of men to attack the Rangis headquarters.
After a fierce battle, most of the Ranji and Forex men were killed and Kijima personally suffered from the betrayal. He finds Kate Warrick holding Annie under the gun. They closed quickly and soon Varik was shot in the abdomen. Annie then helps Kate reach the surface where Kate dies and is finally at peace with herself.
