Inspector Wickram is a 1989 kannada comedy directed by Dean Babu. The film shows the hat tricks of Hero Shivarajkumar and Kavia in the leading roles. Vijay Anand composed the music for the film, which was one of the first comedies by the actor Shivarajkumar. This is the first political comedy in Canadian cinema. Shivarajkumar played the role of a cheater (Tamil actor Narayan) in a series of car chases. Although the film was a resounding success at the time of its release, it ranks sectarian classic among audiences in the Canadian film industry. The original plot included the climax, based on the 1983 film Eddie Macons Run.
Wickram, also known as Inspector Wickram, is a cheerful police officer and has no problem getting into trouble with his superiors, especially the police superintendent. Although he is accepted as a brilliant mind with a strong intelligence for solving crimes, we often blame him for his immaturity, if not like Casanova. Many dire incidents that led to the investigation of this crime brought Vikram and the policeman, who is also his father’s best friend, to the other side of the table. Throughout the film, Wickram hunts down several pre-pats and continues to work. He works both in road traffic and in the penal system. However, when a Raja prisoner escapes from prison, Vikram is called in to track him down. It turns out that Vickram and Raja have a story. In fact, it was Vikram who was released from Raja prison when he was arrested for assaulting his employer.
In order to ensure that Vikram does its job, Police Commissioner Sundar Krishna Ores has now handed over a retired army colonel to Vikram. Despite the colonel’s efforts to bring order to Vikram, Vikram’s efforts to counter this change are well illustrated. It also looks like the Colonel and Vikram’s daughter are about to have a love affair.
With Raja the Great and no evidence that Vikram is helping to arrest him, Vikram decides to investigate Rajas’ life. He knows that Raja was indeed an honest man and it was his employer who attacked and held him back. He also gets to know his wife, whose life story touches Vikchem’s heart with his sick daughter. However, Vikram takes on Raja’s responsibility, taking every step of Raja before escaping, realizing that Raja planned it so well that it will take years for others to reach him. Meanwhile, the girlfriend of Vickrams, a dance student, goes on a dance tour in Karnataka. Dagh Vikram soon learns that Rajas’ wife is also out with his girlfriend. He knows that Raja and his wife will meet at a previously discussed location and plan to travel to Mumbai from there.
Vikram secretly pursues Rajas’ wife and soon arrests Raja. But when Raja sees her chance to help her sick daughter disappear, she collapses in fear and Wickram moves on. Vikram, now in a moral dilemma, agrees to escape Raja, saying his life will not change much even if he is arrested. Raja values himself and goes with his wife and child. While Vikram joins his girlfriend and they walk into the sunset.
